My first ride of the season. I'm not totally prepared and a bit out of shape to fully enjoy that ride. The ride on the lower part of Trabuco Canyon starts nicely with a few nice technical sections. But as soon as I take West Horsethief, heading up to the main divide road, the ride becomes a rather long hike-a-bike. The conditions are perfect however so it's not that painful, just quite long.
On top of West Horsethief I get on the main divide road, where a couple more good climbs are awaiting me. After a couple hours pushing and riding my bike I finally end up on top of Holy Jim, the reason why I came here. I start the descending single track with a lot of excitation. The trail is fast, meandering around small trees and offering an impressive view on the valley where I came.
First disappointment: the camera ran out of battery. I won't bring back good images from this trip. Second one: a flat tire about half the way down... Spare tube in is the car... It sucks to finish such a nice ride walking the bike down while I had to walk it up.
